Dispute resolution and international trade lawyer Emily Jennings has become a partner of the progressive national legal practice of Moulis Legal, as well as being appointed the firm’s national Head of Dispute Resolution.

Ms Jennings, based in Moulis Legal’s Brisbane office, has built a career in commercial litigation with a special focus on the intersection of administrative law, business competition and international trade.

As the youngest female partner of Moulis Legal, and lead partner of the firm’s Brisbane office, Ms Jennings appointment comes at an energising time of firm growth.

Her promotion aligns with the firm’s policy of controlled growth and expansion from within its own ranks, and takes place at the same time as the expansion of the firm’s Brisbane office into a larger architecturally-designed workspace in the prominent Kings Row Four building on riverside Coronation Drive.

“Even as a young lawyer, Emily has been an inspirational leader of our team from the moment she walked through the front door of Moulis Legal. Her outstanding expertise makes her a clever legal defender for our clients,” Moulis Legal Partner Director Daniel Moulis said.

“Emily has really unique insights into the concerns and interests that drive business and of the regulatory environment that at times restrains and at other times activates competition. She knows all about commercial and regulatory litigation, and the strategies required to get to ‘yes’. Emily is the lawyer you want to have on your side to resolve the kinds of problems encountered by business in today’s disrupted markets. Her progression to partnership is testament to what can be achieved with application, ambition, and grace,” Mr Moulis said.

Ms Jennings said her appointment was a rewarding acknowledgement and natural extension of the skills she has developed over her career.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the next phase of Moulis Legal’s growth and evolution, as the firm continues to provide tailored, commercial solutions to our domestic and international clients.

“It’s a privilege to be part of an organisation that recognises the value of its people alongside the importance of delivering excellence in service to our clients,” she said.

In commercial litigation matters, Ms Jennings has represented industrial, distribution and retail clients in areas as diverse as steel, chemicals and electric cables, and investors in financial services and forex disputes. She has managed and led litigation in the Supreme Courts of Victoria and of New South Wales, in the Federal Court of Australia, and on special leave application in the High Court. She is experienced in submission-writing and seeking judicial review of decisions made by government agencies and works closely with Moulis Legal’s top-ranked WTO/international trade law team.

Mr Moulis said that Ms Jennings’ clients appreciate her ability to understand and deliver on their whole-of-business goals.

“Emily strategically analyses the direction of a matter and the likely behaviours of other parties. She constantly assesses prospects, opportunities and directions, so that clients can make cost-effective and ultimately successful decisions about the running of their disputes,” he said.

Ms Jennings graduated in law with honours from Griffith University. She has a Bachelor in International Studies and a Masters in Public and International Law. She is actively involved with the Queensland Law Society, and is currently company secretary of the Australia-China Young Professionals Initiative.

Moulis Legal’s new Brisbane office is located on Level 4, Kings Row Four, 235 Coronation Drive, Milton, Qld, 4064.
