Moulis Legal is pleased to announce the return of valued alumnus Christopher Hewitt as Head of Infrastructure, Sustainability and Energy (ISE). This emerging, industry-led project group will work alongside the firm’s existing teams to address the evolving commercial and legal challenges arising from the global energy transition. These include regulatory change; the shift towards sustainable infrastructure; due diligence, project structuring and documentation; and public and private finance arrangements and incentives.

Christopher is a trusted leader and advisor across the energy, infrastructure and sustainability sectors. He returns to Moulis Legal after holding senior executive and advisory roles, first with Jacobs and then with KBR, two of the world’s top international energy and infrastructure consultancies. Most recently, he led KBR’s energy transition and sustainability division, where he managed and advised on nationally significant energy, infrastructure, and sustainability projects and key investments across Asia.

Christopher’s return marks an important milestone for Moulis Legal, consistent with the firm’s commercial+international proposition. His commercial acumen, developed through years of client-side management of high-value infrastructure ventures, and his deep knowledge of complex cross-border regulatory landscapes, position him to anticipate and address the evolving needs of clients. As the global push for sustainable practice grows, Christopher’s ability to bridge the gap between strategic commercial advice and legal compliance will be invaluable to our clients.

A strategic and commercially-minded lawyer, Christopher holds an MBA, a Master of Laws, and specialised qualifications in Energy Policy & Governance and Chinese Business & Law. His distinguished career spans multiple continents and industries, including energy, infrastructure, agribusiness, and technology. He has earnt his reputation as a dynamic leader in the ISE sector by playing key roles in large-scale projects for government bodies and multinational corporations.

"Christopher’s expertise in domestic and international markets will be add immeasurably to our existing experience in the energy, infrastructure, and sustainability sectors," said Daniel Moulis, Managing Partner and Chair of Moulis Legal. "His ability to provide strategic and commercial insight across complex regulatory environments will be a tremendous asset to clients looking for hands-on legal guidance for their energy transition and sustainability projects."

His proven track record of driving successful outcomes on high-stakes projects across Australia, Asia, North America and southern Africa makes him a perfect fit to spearhead Moulis Legal’s growth in the sustainability and energy sectors.

"I'm excited to return to Moulis Legal and lead this innovative project group," said Christopher. "The infrastructure and energy sectors are undergoing unprecedented transformation. I look forward to collaborating with the talented team here to provide clients with cutting-edge legal and strategic advice that helps them navigate the complexities of the global energy transition in a practical and protected way."

Based in Moulis Legal’s Brisbane office, the ISE group will offer legal advice on regulatory compliance, planning and energy law, risk management, commercial arrangements, infrastructure and construction across Australia and, where called upon, also internationally in association with our global network of like-minded firms.
