Moulis Legal has again been ranked “Band 1 – International trade/WTO” by Chambers Global and Chambers Asia Pacific guides. In the individual Chambers awards, Partner Director Daniel Moulis has again been recognised as a “Band 1” lawyer. Alistair Bridges, a previous “Associate to Watch” has also maintained his ranking in the prestigious guide, having been promoted during 2017 to Senior Associate status with Moulis Legal for his work in international trade law matters.

These rankings cap another active year for our firm. 2017 has seen the opening of our Melbourne office; the strengthening of our corporate, privacy and intellectual property law offerings, with new appointments across our three offices; and the promotion of our lawyers to new positions of influence, such as Senior Associate Charles Zhan’s appointment as a vice president of the Australia China Business Council.

Partner Director Daniel Moulis said the continuing recognition by Chambers and Partners in both its Asia-Pacific and Global directories reflected not only the firm’s commitment and expertise, but also the greater demand for cross-border law service lines in a trade world that has become increasingly disrupted. Moulis said:

This has extended our clients’ needs far outside the norm. Sanctions, safeguard measures, security exceptions, trade diversion, information ownership and storage, and cross border fees and taxes have emerged as hot new problem areas in international trade. Our clients need to navigate this fractious legal and political landscape to stay profitable and, in extreme cases, just to stay in business.

The Chambers research team found Moulis Legal to be a “highly regarded boutique firm with extensive experience handling trade matters in a broad range of sectors” and described Daniel Moulis as “a very experienced practitioner in the area” who is “in charge and drives the case”Clients highlighted our team’s “excellent knowledge of international and commercial trade law and WTO regulations” and our experience in handling trade remedies (anti-dumping/countervailing) matters. Our industry peers acknowledged our “significant presence in the market”.

We greatly appreciate the recognition of our customers and our professional colleagues, and look forward to another year of representation and collaboration with all of you.
