Moulis Legal Chief Executive Suzanne Moulis (above, left) presented the inaugural Moulis Legal Award for Diversity to real estate development group Mirvac at the Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards night on Friday 4 June. This first-time award promotes and recognises commitment to gender balance and diversity in Australia’s property industry.
The judging committee chose Mirvac because of its ingrained acceptance and facilitation of diversity throughout its whole organisation. It is one of only two ASX 200 listed companies to have 50/50 gender balance at board level. Amongst Mirvac’s other initiatives are a requirement that there be a 50/50 gender ratio for candidates for any leadership position, and an internal innovation program called Hatch which pulls together diverse teams from across the whole organisation to enhance problem solving.
The awards night capped off an intensive focus on diversity issues here at Moulis Legal. Over the past six months our staff have reflected on diversity issues and communicated their ideas on our weekly “diversity blog” through our website and our LinkedIn and Twitter feeds. We would like to thank Catherine Carter (Indigo Consulting Australia) and Karen Warner (Press the Point) for their insightful contributions to our blog.
Thanks also to the stellar list of nominees for the Award, including our friends and clients at Herbert Smith Freehills and Scentre Group. It was a privilege and an honour for us to sponsor the Award, as part of our continued focus on inclusiveness in our workplace and throughout the property industry.
