Joan assists clients in resolving cross-border legal issues and provides practical next steps towards achieving their business objectives. Joan has experience in Australian tax and customs valuation arrangements, financial analysis and modelling with application to international trade law, ICT procurement and contracting. Joan also assists clients with general commercial, property-related and IP legal issues.

Joan identifies appropriate strategies to procure complex ICT services, resolve billing issues and disputes and maximise benefits from collaborative relationships with the client’s suppliers. From her previous experience as a management consultant seconded to strategic Australian Defence projects and programmes, Joan has a broad and deep understanding of the client’s critical success factors. She provides legal services with the benefit of keen situational awareness in the client’s industry and new developments in the law. Joan was admitted as an Australian Lawyer to the Supreme Court of Victoria and holds a practicing certificate in the ACT. Fluent in English and Mandarin, Joan has a NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Outside of work, Joan enjoys cycling, cooking and appreciating internet subcultures.
